Newbies mares Posted January 20, 2006 Newbies Posted January 20, 2006 It's been years since I've worked with Filemaker. I'm now trying to use it for an interim solution until our reporting group can help me with a permanent solution. I'm importing data into Filemaker and running a report that I would like to print to a Word file so that one of our staff members that does not use Filemaker can update the document daily as needed (the document is recreated weekly via my data import). Years (and versions) ago, I could click the "Print to file" checkbox and my report would output to a format that I could then open in MSWord. When I try that now, I get a bunch of goblety-guk. FM documentation offers no help in this regard. Advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Wim Decorte Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 If you have the "generic /text only" printer driver installed, then your "print to file" will generate just text. Other ways of doing this are to set up the Word document as a merge document, export a Comma delimited file from FM and then update the word document. More work though but better results.
