Newbies Kehama Posted January 25, 2006 Newbies Posted January 25, 2006 (edited) Hi guys, (I'm using Developer 7) I've done a search already, and although I found solutions to change the color of a field through calculation or script, what would you do if you had, say, 100 fields that needed this done ? That's a lot of calculation fields, or a high maintenance (and not to mention large/slow script). I was thinking of doing something with a portal, displaying a background based on the field value, but I can't figure out how I'd do that with multiple fields... Anyone have any suggestions (and lets hope they include conditional formatting like excel into version 9) ? Kehama Edited January 25, 2006 by Guest
Genx Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 ... i dont know how to do this but um... what are the benefits of being able to change the field color?... why not just change the text color, or if its to note that the field has to be filled... just put an asterix in it or next to or something...
comment Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Use a repeating field? BTW, background color is quick when generated by a text string of "g"'s in Webdings font.
Newbies Kehama Posted January 25, 2006 Author Newbies Posted January 25, 2006 Only to make it more clear that something is wrong with that part. I don't mind if only the text color is changed, tho (which doesn't make it any easier).
Newbies Kehama Posted January 25, 2006 Author Newbies Posted January 25, 2006 A repeating field are not an option, as my fields occasionally have separate LOV's attached to them.
Newbies Kehama Posted January 25, 2006 Author Newbies Posted January 25, 2006 List Of Values (or Value List in filemaker), sorry I'm Oracle trained.
comment Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I meant a single repeating calculation field to generate the background color. Use Get(CalculationRepetitionNumber) to generate a separate result for each repetition. It will be a long formula, but at least it's all in one place.
