superman_kd Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I am trying to import an excel document but it wont import over the calc fields is there a way to do this?
Genx Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 ...no... unless your calc fields didnt have to be unstored in which case you could change them to auto-enter text or number fields that replace previous values... genx
Lee Smith Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Usually, you are importing the data that will make the calculation perform its calculation. Why would you want to overwrite that? You can do as genx has suggested, and make your calculation an Auto Enter and deselect the "Do not replace existing value (if any). However, maybe there is something else you will want to do instead. More information will need to be provided. It is always good to in a concise way, tell us what you have now, and what you want as an end result. HTH Lee
superman_kd Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 I apologise for being so vague. What I am trying to do is create a basic estimate form that autofills the unit cost when the description matches a price list description. I was haveing a hard time doing this and got some help from mikett and what he suggested was makeing seperate records for every entry. So now the estimate sheet works I just need a way to make new estimates for new jobs. Keeping in mind this process needs to be very simple for the end user. My plan was to set up a sort of control panel where the user could import and export the data into excel or any other format I am not to picky, the user will have lots of estimates and I wan't to get away from having them manually search throuh a folder full of files so I was going to put in a search field. The user will be useing windows so spotlight the obvious solution isn't really an option. I have a feeling there could be a much easier method of action. Estimator2.fp7.zip
