mcbrady Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I've searched the forums, and tried for hours on my own, but I'm having no luck creating a calculation field which gives the result of when another field was last modified. Basically it is used to automatically determine when a certain task was completed based on when they entered data into a certain field....without having to force the person entering the data to use a script with a set field included. I thought there would be a Get(Field Modified) type function, but I'm not seeing anything. I feel like I'm overlooking something. Any suggestions are very appreciated.
Lee Smith Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 It's called Audit or Field Modification Tracking. Do a search for Audit, and you will turn up many thread on the subject. Check out Bob Weaver's file in the Sample File Topic Area Here and the one Ultra-Streamlined Audit Tracking System for FileMaker 7 By: Ray J. Cologon Here There are other files linked to the treads you will pull up, so you will probably want to look deeper than these. Lee
Walter B Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Andrew Persons at Excelisys also has a good audit trail solution using custom functions. Check it out at: http://www.excelisys.com/services/fmp7/tips_tricks.htm
Lee Smith Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Hi Walter, CF requires the Developer Edition (Advance in v8). mcbrady only reflects the standard edition, so I don't know how much help that one will be. However, it is always good to see the options anyway. Lee
mcbrady Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 Awesome! Thanks for the tips guys, Audit was the keyword that I was missing. I think I've got it, now I just have to read through all the good stuff. Many thanks, Brady P.S. Maybe this will give me a good excuse to finally upgrade to Advanced
Lee Smith Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 (edited) P.S. Maybe this will give me a good excuse to finally upgrade to Advanced You will NOT regret it, so use any excuse you need to, Especially, when you consider the v7 to Advance special. Lee Edited February 9, 2006 by Guest
