Okay, I think I've finally posted this in right the place... maybe?

I'm not sure I've described the subject right... but what I'd like to do is:

Set up a database field to retain live data, received via a relationship database (that I have no control over), as static data that won't go away when the live data is deleted from the relationship database.

If possible I'd like to set this up to happen based on project status - i.e., when project category = archived, fill static field.

It would, of course, be nice to set this up to work without manually tending to it...

Possible? Or am I crazy?
