Hello,

I have a database of individual shots in a film. As the shots are worked on by artists, I log comments to the shots in a comment field under each shot.

I'd like to do a Find which yields a list of the shots with only the latest comment for each shot.

Searching by date range doesn't work as some shots receive multiple comments per day...

Any ideas? (and/or any ideas where to look for info on this sort of thing in the future the FM help pages/manual don't seem comprehensive based on some of the other info I've seen posted here?)

Thanks,

-Greg

... ... im not really understanding how your file is set up so ill make a few assumptions here...

firstly im assuming that your comments are in a related table...

secondly, im assuming you want this for a report or something...though you could just as easily throw the fields on a layout

anyway.. in define database, under relationships tab... double click the relationship between your two Table Occurances i.e. Shots <--> Comments... the relationships window comes up... under the side thats relevent to the comments TO.. click sort, and specify a field you should have created which is a timestamp which autoenters on creation...

... anyway, then goto your report or layout... and just put the related comments fields on there without a portal and it will display the most recently created comment for the film shot...

... if this doesnt help or your still confused, give us a bit more information and we'll see if we can help...
