printing portal question

Featured Replies

OK, maybe there is another way to do this but I wanted to keep it simple so maybe there is a good suggestion out there.

I have a portal, within which I may have 1 record, and may have as many as 150 records in it. I want to format a page to print the records in the portal but I cannot seem to find a way to do this so it uses only as many pages as necessary.

If I put in 'show 75 records', the portal takes up more than one 8.5x11 page on my page layout, but I assumed that if I clicked the box in the the sliding/printing feature, it would ignore the format. This seems not to be the case.

Do I have to print from the other file altogether, formatting a page exactly the same but using the records instead? Please let me know how to solve this relatively simple issue.

thanks

Hi Sean,

Yes, printing multi-page portals is problematic, especially in FM7, which does a poor job of sliding them.

You should try printing instead from the related line items table, using a list view. To get the line items table to show only the related records, use a Go To Related Records [ Show only related records ] script step.

Formatting of such a list view has limitations, and some elements of your portal print layout may not be possible. But it shouldn't be too hard to rearrange things to get a satisfactory result.

I wish I had seen your duplicate post to this before wasting time answering it.
