Hi,

I am relatively new to FMP - I've some experience in other databases (Foxpro & Access). I'm taking over a database that had a field added (recno) that was never used. I want to begin relating other tables to the master - but I need to fill in the recno field with a unique ID (recno) would be fine). Is there a scipt to auto load this table one time? Once done the field is setup to add the next sequential number, but we need to fill in a couple of thousand records first.

Any help is appreciated!

Place your cursor in the serial field and select from menu - Records > Replace Field Contents by Serial Number. Check the box 'Update serial in Auto-Entry' and be sure to Show All Records first (and back up first also).
