SequeLink Error: 3061

[DataDirect][ODBC SequeLink driver][sequeLink Server]Authorisation failure.

I'm trying to connect to a FilemMaker Pro 8 database over the network using ODBC. The "DataDirect SequeLink for ODBC Setup" or "Connect to the SequeLink Server" dialog does not prompt for a Database User Name and Password when I press the "..." button.

I've searched online and it seems like other people are having the same problem without a solution. How do I connect to the database over a network with ODBC?

FileMaker Pro only allows ODBC/JDBC connections from the same machine serving the database. FileMaker Server 7 Advanced allows ODBC connections from any machine.

If that's true, I wish I knew before we bought FileMaker Pro.

I think that's pretty well documented no? I'm sure it's in the manual that comes with the trial download.

It was also widely talked about when FM7 first came out.

As a test a while back, I successfully got around this limitation using stunnel (stunnel.org) to tunnel local ODBC queries to another machine and vice versa. All seemed to work fine.

However, that may be against the eula and wouldn't be fully supported by filemaker..
