March 7, 200619 yr Newbies I would like to have the text color of a field change to red only if the data in the field has been modified since it's initial entry.
March 7, 200619 yr You can set this up using a container field, or TextStyle calculation, but the question is, why. If you do this, once you see that it been modified, are you going to want to revert the field to what it was? Instead, why not use a Audit Tracking File like the ones that have been posted in the Sample File Topic Area? Once you consider the above, let us know if you want to proceed or not. Lee

Lee Usually (99.9%) we do not change the field back to normal text. We change the text to red in order to highlight that the due dates for the various stages of projects have been changed. Your suggestion has made me think though that what if a date was accidentally changed and then fixed (it would remain red if it was part of a calculation). Right now the due date fields are text fields (FMP5) so that we can change the text color to red. I am in the process of converting our databases to FMP8. The person who does the tracking of our projects had requested this to be automated since she has to highlight and change the text colors manually for up to 5 fields per record for approx. 100 to 130 records at any given time. Thank you for you input. Cleo Edited March 7, 200619 yr by Guest
July 2, 200619 yr Hi all friends someone ( a dear friend ) asked for a little modification, so the file attached do this: The first time you'll enter something into the field, it will stay BLACK. From that moment all changes to the field, even if you delete all contents of the field, will show field's contents in "RED". REVISION BTW: if the data is changed back to its original value, the red color will change back to black. ( a sort of password search...) RedREV1.zip
