Newbies reza Posted March 8, 2006 Newbies Posted March 8, 2006 Hi i am new to Filemaker so this question may seem easy to some I have a databse with two layouts, say A and B. When i enter a record/data in A it also appears in B how can I avoid this, so the record for A only appears in A and so on for B Thanks a lot in advance Reza
Lee Smith Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 There is a difference between 2 Table Occurrence (TO) and 2 Layouts. If you only have one (1) TO and 2 layouts, then all fields in Layout A will be the same Available in Layout B, and the same data appears. Make a Second TO, and move your Layout B to it. HTH Lee
Newbies reza Posted March 9, 2006 Author Newbies Posted March 9, 2006 Hi and thanks a lot How can I move a layout I have already created to another TO (table) do i have to start from scratch and create all the fields and buttons or is there a way of copying/moving a layout thanks a lot
Lee Smith Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I have the [color:blue]Developers Edition of FileMaker ([color:blue]Advance), and don't really know what is available in the [color:blue]Standard Edition (i.e. Regular Edition). However, you may be able to [color:red]copy your [color:blue]fields from one TO to the Other. As for the Layouts, you can just copy and paste them from one layout to the other in Layout Mode. [color:red]After moving your fields To [color:red]copy a Field(s) in Advance, you select it in [color:blue]Define Fields and there should be a [color:blue]Button at the bottom that says [color:green]Copy. Move into the Target TO and there should be a [color:green]Paste Button. If not, you are stuck [color:blue]recreating the Field names, and then copy and pasting any calculations involved. Always create the fields before copying your Layout, or you will run into other stumbling blocks. HTH Lee
