Image Import Scripting Question

Featured Replies

I have a solution for diagnostic studies in health care. I am migrating from 6 to 8. Among others, there are two related tables, studies and images(this is an ultrasound application). The studies table has a unique serial number for each study as a primary key. The images file uses this number as a foreign key to link to studies. The idea is to create a layout with a portal in the studies file to view all the images that are linked to it by the primary key. I am using the import folder script to import the images into the study file. I am currently using a script that sets the serial number as a global variable and then goes to the image file and sets the serial number field to the global variable through a set field/next record loop. Is there a simpler way to do this? This relationship has to be bulletproof. If the serial number relation is not set correctly the corresponding images might be tough to find. I think that the script needs to be extended to add the patients name and medical record number to each image, wich would make finding orphaned records easier. However having orphaned images in the first place would obviously be an issue for the end user. Not exactly confidence inspiring.

Hope this is not too convoluted an explanation and thanks in advance to anyone who cares to comment.
