I wonder how can i do some text or number layout, like this... I got a telephone number, and i have it in this way at the DB 4086943652 but when i want it to display it at the layout i wanna it to show like this: (408) 964-3452

thx u for ur help.

Do a search for the [color:green]Keywords of [color:blue]+Phone +Format and you will find a overwhelming bunch of threads about this topic. Be sure to include the [color:blue]Pluses as I have reflected them.

Many thx Lee, my problem was that i didnt really know how to look on it at search so i ended up writing the kind of post that every moderators hates ( duplicate ones ). Now that I got redirected to some solution, I still having 1 problem: FUNCTIONS ok they are there build on FMP but there is no a GLOSARY at the help that explain them functions.. some are self explanatory but others that might be the solution for my problems arent. Where I can get some documentation about FUNCTIONS, VALIDATION BY CALCULATION and so on ?

Thx for any help.

the solutions of my problem was found here

The application help has basic information about built-in functions and validation by calculation. For custom functions, you'd need to read the notes by the author. While Steve's phone number function is presented as a custom function, there's no recursion involved so you could simply copy and paste the function definition into a calc to get the same results (custom functions are only installable with FM7 Developer or FM8 Advanced.)
