Drop down list inactive in Find Mode

I don't know why- but I have 2 files set up the same but one has drop down available in find mode and the other does not- I don't see any differences. Any ideas? Thanks-

Did you check - right-click the field, select Field Behavior and make sure 'Allow Field to be Entered' is checked for Find Mode?

Is the "unavailable" drop-down based on a related value list? These don't work in find mode, since there is no relational context to define their contents. So if you want to use a value list based on field contents in find mode, you have to choose "include all values"
