Scott Spencer Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I have two files - one is a 'service diary', the other is a part-catalog. I'd like to be able to display the parts in the service diary so I don't have to open the parts catalog to find the part, but I have them all listed in the service diary. I can't seem to get portal to display more than 1 item (one that is tied to a relationship) and show ALL the records in the parts catalog... can I do this? am I even making sense....
BFrost Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 You've almost answered your own question. Make a new relationship to Parts with "All" as the qualfier.
Scott Spencer Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 Um, exactly how to I do that? So far all I can do is use the portal to pull up one record of a specific part number I type in. On the relationships set up my 'part no' from the parts DB is tied to a field in the main DB. When I type in the part no. there, the specific part shows up. Where do I use the "all" ? It can be as simple as typing it in the related field, because that didn't jive... this one has me boggled.... I'm not very good at this and now I'm really seeing why....
Lee Smith Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 (edited) Where do I use the "all" ?Look at the operator choices you have when you creat a relationship or edit it. Hint Online Help. Contents > Glossary > Operators Lee Edited April 15, 2006 by Guest
Scott Spencer Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 Thank you very much (both you for your help) All I had to do was change the = to 'not' = . Makes me say 'doh!' Thank you for taking the time to help.....
Lee Smith Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 (edited) [color:blue]All ([color:red]x) is different than [color:blue]Not Equal ([color:red]≠) in what it will shows in the Portal. In other words, [color:red]x = [color:blue]everything, and [color:red]≠ is everything [color:blue]but. HTH Lee Edited April 15, 2006 by Guest
