Problem configuring web publishing on xserve

I've installed FMS8 + WPE on an xserve (10.3.9)

All goes OK until I try to configure the WPE via the web console. (I'm using a secure/https server)

No matter what I try, I keep getting a message...

"The web server and Administration Console server must be restarted before continuing to configure the Publishing Engine."

Yes I've restarted the processes and the machine a few times to no avail. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch.

I tried an install on OSX 10.3.9 client and I do get past this point.

Any help or pointers to try out would be extremely gratefully accepted. Ta

I had exactly the same problem. The solution was to disable one of the Xserve's two active ethernet network interfaces, configure web publishing, and then re-enable the interface.

To be safe I did things in this order:

1. Stop FileMaker Server, the web publishing engine, and the web server (Apache)

2. Disable one of the network interfaces

3. Start the web server, the web publishing engine, and FileMaker Server

4. Configure web publishing

5. Test Instant Web Publishing to verify it all works

6. Stop FileMaker Server, the web publishing engine, and the web server (Apache)

7. Re-enable the second network interface

8. Start the web server, the web publishing engine, and FileMaker Server

9. Test Instant Web Publishing to verify it all works

10. Restart the computer (to check that the configuration sticks across a restart)

11. Test Instant Web Publishing to verify it all works
