I'm trying to learn more advanced FileMaker, but can't find what << name>> means.

In several templates there are references to <> <> and similar. These are clearly field names, but I can't find any information in Help, programming books, or the FileMaker knowledge base about what the << name >> means and how to program these things.

Please help.

These are called merge fields and they work just like a merge field in a word processor. You'll find the menu item for inserting a merge field under the Insert menu while in layout mode.

For more information on Merge Fields, do a search of your Online Help (with FileMaker open) for Merge Fields.
