deego55 Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I am new to using FM Server 8 Adv. Can i use the local install of the Server Admin Tool to copy a file to the server? I tried dragging the file to the databases folder but it does not show up in the directory, even after refresh. Thank you.
John Mark Osborne Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 There is a video on the FileMaker web site showing you the 4 things you have to do to share a FileMaker file via FileMaker Server. http://www.filemaker.com/products/fmp/video_tutorials.html
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Can i use the local install of the Server Admin Tool to copy a file to the server? No. You must move the file to the folder thru the OS. Steven
Wim Decorte Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Having said that, don't be tempted to share the folder where the live FM are. OS file sharing will lead to performance problems and ultimately to file and/or data corruption. Your best bet is to enable Remote Desktop on the FMS machine, log in, and take the files from a network share and move them to the FMS machine.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I probably should have said thru the UI, not thru the OS. Wim is correct. Do not use OS level file sharing. Steven
