My database is designed as the front end to a MySQL database. I have a problem with the apostrophies. Many of my texts have apostrophies in them but the SQL database interprets them as separators.

I have tried the "Substitute" function & the "Find/Replace" function in Filemaker to replace the apostrophy with an accent character, but the functions do not seem to recognize these characters.

Does any one have an idea how I can replace these apostrophies?

Works fine for me. Try enclosing the ' and the ` within the quotes ("") that you choose from the calculation operator list when using "replace field contents"

It still isn't working for me. I am working on a Mac. Maybe that is the problem.

Is there a way to specify Characters by their Unicode in Filemaker calculations?

Be sure that you are looking for the rigth kind of apostrophies, they can be either a plain apostrophies, or a curly apostrophies,.

I usually turn off Smart Quotes, aka curly quotes.
