Newbies helsf Posted May 31, 2006 Newbies Posted May 31, 2006 I have recently tried to re-install my FMSA v8 from CD as the v8.3 update caused me some headaches. I have installed from CD FMSA v8.0, then tried to update to v8.2 using the download from the FM site (because that's the earliest available), but it tells me I need a valid version of FMSA v8.1 to install this update. I cannot find a v8.1 update and, after reading the v8.2 update info it suggests that my cd install version should be 8.1? I'm confused, am I missing something? Should my FMSA CD version be 8.1 or should there be an updater somewhere that I can't find?
dharlow Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Your CD is 8.0v1 however you should update to 8.0v3 as it fixes some critical problems (with finds and calcs) in version 8. Daniel
Vaughan Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Don't confuse FileMaker's "patch" levels with it's release version. There has never been a release of FMP 8.1 or 8.2 or 8.3. It's been 8.0v1 and 8.0v2 and 8.0v3. The "v" represents the patch level (or the bug fix revision level). FileMaker Pro 8.5 has just been released. Since it's the first it's 8.5v1. If a bug fix is ever released it will be patched to 8.5v2, then 8.5v3 and so on.
