I'm using FileMaker Pro Ver 8 on a Macintosh, and importing files into a table. I am importing three different files, using the Update on Key ID on files 2 and 3.

Each file has the date in a different format. Each date gets imported into a FM Pro Date field. So I end up with 3 different dates in each record.

FM Pro recognizes all three formats just fine. THey are

6/1/2006

June 1, 2006

2006-06-01

I would like to push a button in FM Pro and convert the fields to a consistent format. Say 2006-06-01.

Can anybody point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Are these text files that you are importing?

If so, I would change the dates prior to import using a text editor. If you don't have BBEdit, or TextWrangler, you can download a Free copy of TextWrangler from

http://www.barebones.com/

I use TextWrangler Grep Pattern Find and Replace for this type of file manipulation all of the time. If you need help with the Grep patterns, let me know.

BTW, the format 2006-06-01 is NOT a proper Date format, although you can have it display that way once it is entered.
