Hi, all.

After a couple of wasted hours, I've finally figured out that this sequence works:

Enter Find Mode []

Set Field (the field I want to sort on and the value I want to use)

Perform Find []

Can someone explain to me (s-l-o-w-l-y) what on Earth the "Specify Find Requests" and "Edit Find Requests" dialogs are used for???

Sometimes when perfoming an AND find not an OR find which are the usual when stacking requests. Do you need an omitted request for each field the request is build over ...this makes it possible to in one line to write the entire search, and then followed by a show omitted only. Due to DeMorgan's rule.

Now mere mortals can instead, make a sequence of Constrain Found Set's simply because it could be simpler to debug.

So it's a measure to write compact searches, just consider it as another option which could be easier for those swinging XML in and out of Filemaker.

But in order to get the idea behind searches as such does this video provide a good introduction to the mindset required to understand the alternative notation:
