Newbies

I am building a Project management device with FileMaker 5 and I have created 5 usergroup (admin / dev / tech / billing / Marketing) and now I need to insert specific users with specific permissions in them. Is there a simple way?

Simple is in the eye of the beholder! The two aspects of protection built into FM are the assigning of Passwords with various possible privileges and the linking of these passwords to Groups which can have read/write, read only, or no access to fields and layouts.

It is also possible using the above tools to create a notion of users (FM does not have a built-in notion of both User and Password).

Setup in the Groups dialog is done by selecting a Group and then associating passwords and access privileges for layouts and field with that group. Your best bet is to read (and re-read) the section on the FileMaker User's Manual for this feature.
