Paul de Halle Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Does anyone have any experience of using a handheld device such as a palm or pocket pc (Symbol MC50) and FileMaker Mobile 8 to scan barcodes. I need it to be able to find a record in the FM Mobile database based on what it scans. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Paul
Tricky Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I am not sure how this relates to FM8, but there is a barcode reader plugin that can be used with older version. It is called Peninsula FMPro Barcode Plugin. You might be able to find it by Googling it. Obviously the mobile hand held device needs to be able to run Filemaker on it...
bkamlin Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 I'm in the same position. I wave tried everything to use our Symbol MC50's with Filemaker. If anybody has any ideas let me know.
Jim Dhaem Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 We use wireless Symbol PDT8146 bar code Pocket PCs that run Windows Pocket PC 2003 which allowed us to install Opera 8.65. This version works with Instant Web Publishing. Any pocket PC that runs at least Pocket PC 2003 or above should work with IWP by installing Opera 8.65. These units can be purchased off Ebay for a reasonable price, we get ours for about $275 plus $24 for Opera. Our Warehouse Management system is written in FileMaker Pro Advanced using IWP.
