I am creating a bookings / scheduling system using FilemakerPro 8. I have two tables, one containing all the booking details and one containing client names, addresses, phone numbers etc.

I want to be able to do the following:

1. Create a new record containing the booking details.

2. Have a pop-up menu showing a list of companies from the client list table. The user then selects one, for example Acme Industries.

3. Have another pop-up menu listing only the people who work at that chosen company. The user then chooses which person from Acme Industries.

4. Have the phone number of the selected person (this is stored in the 'clients' database) displayed automatically in a field.

I have managed to do steps 1-3 above, by creating a relationship between the 'company' field of the 'bookings' table and the 'company' field of the 'clients' table. I've also made a value list based on the 'company' field in the 'clients' table. But I am finding it impossible to get the phone number to display automatically. I'm sure it's quite simple when you know how - the Filemaker online help and the manual both seem pretty useless.

I have also tried to emulate the 'event management' template supplied with Filemaker. This does exactly what I need - it has an address book-type table and another 'events' table, in which you can select a person's name and hey presto - their contact information (email & phone) appears. This is done by creating a ClientID field which seems to make the link between the two tables. I have done this in my database also, but when I select the client ID number in my database, it changes it in the clients table, which makes it useless - I end up with all the client names having the same ClientID.

Well, I hope this is slightly more clear than mud, and that someone has the (hopefully simple) answer to this problem!!
