Screen Redraw/Refresh Issues

Featured Replies

I've experienced this problem in FM 7 Advanced and FM 8 Advanced.

While creating a solution I'm often going in/out of layout/browse mode and I'm frequently opening the Define Database window. I use keyboard commands to switch views and windows.

After a few times of accessing different views or the define DB dialog window FileMaker starts to having issues redrawing any screen. Sometimes the window will stay open but just be blank minimizing then open the window back up fixes it until the next time I change something. Other times it will just disappear in the Window menu it shows that its open but if I select it nothing happens. I have to double click on the file icon to get it to show again.

One other thing that seems to trigger this is if I click the mouse on part of the body/header/footer that is empty.

Has anyone else experienced this? As a note it happens on more than one computer for me also.

I'm including links to 2 examples

Example 1

Example 2

I've not seen this problem. What are the specific computer models (with RAM) and what specific revision of FileMaker are you noticing this with?

Both machines are Dual 2.0 G5's (same 2nd generation model). One has 1.25 GB Ram the other 1 GB.

10.4.7 now but seen this in all 10.4.x

FileMaker 8 Advanced 8.03 on both

The only idea i had was I also have FM 7 Developer installed but not running.
