Printing Lables w/ Zebra S400

Featured Replies

We have a Zebra S400 printer and I can't seem to get Filemaker to print to it. Every time I've tried the lables will print out blank. Any ideas?

By the way, I'm running Windows XP Pro if that matters.

Thanks

How does it look in Preview Mode?

If blank, then in layout mode make sure your text is within the printable area of the label.

Check the settings for Sliding/Printing on the fields.

Also check that your are printing Records being browsed, not Current Record.

If not blank, try copying the fields to a blank layout (not set up for labels). Try changing settings there, such as font, sliding/printing, etc. until you are able to print. That might help isolate the issue.

The label in preview mode is not blank. It looks as if it should look on the label. I tried creating a new layout and same thing. Labels kept printing blank or not at all.

I tried changing to the Generic/Text Only driver as well and that didn't help either. I'm kind of at a loss with this. I should be able to communicate with this label printer using FileMaker but I'm not having any luck. Any other ideas? Thanks

My next guess would be the font or an image on the layout. I've encountered several instances where one item on a layout kills the print job. It can be a font that doesn't agree with the printer or that FileMaker somehow doesn't process correctly for the printer. Or an image (such as a logo) that is corrupted or bad in some way.

Try setting up an entirely new layout with a vanilla font, such as Courier or Arial.

You should also try to establish that other machines or applications can print to this printer (i.e., that the printer is not to blame), and that you can print the problem layout to another printer (i.e., that the layout is otherwise sound).

So I finally got our Zebra S400 label printer to print at least something from FM. I added the specific fonts that I'm using.

But it will only print the following 'HOO. I'm not sure what this means and these characters are not in my lables in any way.

I tried to print from MS Publisher and was able to print just fine.

Any ideas?
