I have seen a couple of related posts, but they do not answer my question. I am developing a runtime solution for Windows and want the solution to look like Kiosk mode but NOT to force full screen (I want a regular Window that users can minimize etc.) Of-course I could turn Kiosk mode off, but then I get the menubar, which I don't want.

Any way to either have Kiosk mode without forced full screen OR regular mode with ALL the menubars hidden ?

p.s. I am using FM 8.5 Advanced

I use Dacons Menu Control to create my own menu bar in a runtime. since I also wanted to give my users access to their desktops. It has more flexibility and is easier to use than Filemaker's Custom Menus. See Link

Well I downloaded the trial version and figured out how to create add a thin client command to the start up script and that seems to work ok when opened within Filemaker. But when I create a runtime version it does not seem to work.

Have I missed something ? Can you point me in the right direction on how to create a basic menubar free runtime using this plugin ?

Seems to be a very powerful tool, but maybe a sledgehammer to crack a nut, when I just want to eliminate the menubar, not create a fancy custom one.

thanks

I have never been able to remove from the Custom Filemaker Menu an 'Exit' that Filemaker insists on adding to the 1st editable menu. This is a major pain, and while some people will give you some 'workarounds', I don't think they work well.

Seems to me that the Menu Bar makes your app look like other standard Windows apps, which you obviously want since you're giving up on kiosks.

Make sure the plugin in in the Extensions folder, and there is an Extensions folder underneath your runtime folder.

Thanks that gets me a step further. I did not have a copy of the plugin in the runtime extensions folder. It looks a lot better now.

I will play some more and try to get the effect I am after.
