CatLady03 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I have looked and cannot find anything on identifying duplicates in a given field. I have a field called Symbol. I'm trying to isolate those symbols that only appear once. Many appear twice and I want to print a list of symbols that only appear once. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Jeff Bills Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Enter Find mode and insert an exclamation point ( ! ) in the symbol field or choose the Symbols drop menu
CatLady03 Posted July 27, 2006 Author Posted July 27, 2006 Oh geez! Thanks for the reminder, Jeff. I knew I had seen that somewhere...I just didn't recall where. It's the little things. Thanks, that really helped. Now, I have one other question pertaining to the duplicates. Can you recommend a quick way to delete the duplicate records? I've been thinking on it, but no luck so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Debbie
Jeff Bills Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Go to Filemaker.com and choose "Support" and then "Knowledge Base". Once you're there, type in "delete duplicate" and you'll have a buffet of answers. I think the one's that say something like "Deleting Duplicate Records Using a Self-Join Relationship" are the fastest. Maybe someone else on this forum can verify that. :)
