Does anyone know if there are any character and length limitiations on FM pusernames and passwords, and if so, what are they?

I haven't been able to find any documentation, but we seem to have issues with usernames andpasswords longer than 26 characters.

What happens when you try it?

if either is longer than 26 characters, it treats the login attempt as a failed attempt and displays the login box again.

Actually after testing more, it only seems to be an issue if we are logging in via IWP or CWP.

The limit for a password is 100 characters including spaces. FileMaker pro 7, FileMaker Pro 8, and FIleMaker Pro 8.5 support passwords and passphrases.

The OS may limit the length of Account names if using External Server Authentication.

There may be a limit on the length of a FileMaker Pro Account name, but I don't know what it is.

Thanks for the info. We are not using external server auth.

Would there be a difference in limit between logging in directly through the FM client and logging in via CWP? It only seems to be an issue through Custom Web Publishing.
