I am totally stumped with an access privilege problem.

FM Advanced Server is running Mac OSX 8.04

Two files were created with FMPro Advanced 8.03

The first is functioning fine. The second database I am hosting is giving me big problems. (I also converted this file) It has only one table.

I have done something wrong with privileges. There are several users - including Admin with full access.

As Admin, if I sit at the server with my file and use Filemaker 8 - I can create records, delete, etc

However, if I go to the file through Filemaker then Open Remote - I can define the database, perform a find, sort etc but cannot create or delete records -- I get the Error Message "This action cannot be performed because this file is not modifiable" Most the "records"menu items are greyed out along with Scriptmaker too. What in the heck have I done?

The Extended Privilege Tab is set for fmapp for admin and other users.

I have looked for answers at your website and have been unable to find one.

Thank you for your help

This sounds like operating system level privileges. Don't have the info to hand but have a look in the online help first.

Thank you - it was read/write privileges on the file on the server. I wasn't think OS problems, I was thinking Filemaker.

Thank you again -

Group fmsadmin must have read write for the hosted files. Please review the information in the Server Tech Brief for further details:
