non runtime Kiosk Mode?

Featured Replies

Hi

I want my database to run in full screen kiosk mode, however i cant run it as a runtime solution because its is a database shared over network. is there any way to set database to full screen kiosk mode in normal filemaker 8.5. cheers

Hi Modles

Runtime and Kiosk mode are seperate states that can be invoked completely independant of one another so getting what you what is not a problem.

Unfortunately you need 8.5 advanced to invoke either mode

does this mean i need to have advanced running on each machine, or only to set the script?

Cheers

Your users will not need advanced to run in kiosk mode but you will need advanced to prepare the file so that it might run that way.

I choose these words carefully because your post inferred that you think you script the conversion of the file. In fact what you do is use a tool that is only available in advanced to convert the file to one that is either a runtime or capable of being run in kiosk mode or both.

Finally just to clarify, If you prepare a runtime your users do not even need a copy of filemaker to rum the solution as FM is bound in with the solution in a runtime. The downside to this is that they cannot share such a file just as you indicated in your first post
