Relationships after import

I have a database with parent and child records. It works great.

However, if I make a copy of that file, remove all the records and then import the parent and child records from the original file into the blank copy, the relationships do not work unless I close and reopen the file.

Anyone know why this might happen? :

I do not KNOW the answer to this one but I can only presume that FM needs to rebuild its indeces for these relatinships and that that is not done automatically after an import.
