Newbies bsharke Posted August 15, 2006 Newbies Posted August 15, 2006 I'm using FM Pro5 in Windows XP. Pretty simple sales database with about 12 fields. I collect each sales email address and would like to know how to upload those emails in this text field to an email program for the purpose of sending out a newsletter to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
LaRetta Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Please don't double-post. I have deleted your other one. Thank you! :wink2:
Squeaky Data Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 First you need to find out what text formats your email application can accept then you can look at the FileMaker export options to see if there is a compatible format.
Newbies bsharke Posted August 15, 2006 Author Newbies Posted August 15, 2006 Thanks for the reply. I'm using Outlook Express and have not a clue where to begin to export. I only would like to export my email field. Is that possible.
Newbies Crackerjack Posted August 23, 2006 Newbies Posted August 23, 2006 (edited) You will probably have to find (In Filemaker)all the people you want to send the emails to, do an export as a csv file, taking only the email address. You can then open this file in Excel or any similar prograamme, and copy the addresses to Outlook. Put them into BCC so people receiving the emails don't see your list. You probably will only be able to send 70 at a time so you will need to create a template of your email in Outlook so that you can call it up to add the addresses. This is how we always did it in FM 5. others may have a different way. One tip is to sort the files in Excel to Alphabetical Order as you may need to find any addresses with errors. Any errors will mean no emails go until you find and fix the error and having them in order makes this easier. Edited August 23, 2006 by Guest
