Print Scaling in 8.5

We just made the big jump from 5.5 to 8.5 and on the whole things have gone well and only a few issues have come up.

In 5.5, if you went and changed the print setup for a file the layout would be aware and know that it could fit more on the page.

In 8.5 you can see that the layout doesn't register this change. When I print it is simply shrinking the info and not displaying additional information. I've read on other threads to do this when you actually print the document, not when in the Print Setup but that hasn't had any affect on me. I also tried it via a script with the same result.

Is there anyway to have FileMaker scale the report to fit the width of one sheet?

Thanks,

Bryan

I also cannot scale in the PC version of 8.5, even though the same files have no problem on a Mac. I have tried multiple printers and drivers on the XP much without success. I have tried all the various troubleshooting techniques listed on numerous bulletin boards, none of which have worked. I wish someone would acknowledge we have a serious problem here that needs to be addressed.

I used 5.5 so long ago, I don't really remember. I do know that I have a lot of current users getting mad at me for not being able to print all the data in their reports.

Hmm, the reason I ask is because FileMaker more or less says straight out that you can't scale in the PC version.

Here's the relavent knowledge base article http://tinyurl.com/mlgs4 [filemaker.custhelp.com]

Now, that would be all fine and dandy. I would just tell my users you can't do it; sorry about that. However we just migrated from 5.5 to 8.5 and they have always scaled properly in 5.5. Now it doesn't work and I'm lost for an explanation. Same machine, same driver, same printer. Nothing is different in any way except for the version of FileMaker. On my machine I went back and opened the old files in 5.5 to confirm: it works like a charm.
