GailyD Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 (edited) We have two Macs sharing peer to peer; whenever the client is closed down the file references are lost resulting in 'file can't be found' when buttons pointing to the host dbase are clicked. Both computers have fixed IP addresses; linked over an ethernet LAN. I hadn't experienced this issue before changing to Dev7, maybe I am misunderstanding something but it drives me nuts..... FMPing Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Have you try File>Define>File References and redefine the file reference to the hosted station
GailyD Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Yes, that is what I have to go through every time the link is lost. If I go to the script there is a 'Perform script from file Contacts [file is not open]' which is not true as I can see it open from where I sit!! I have tried using the computers names, the IP address, most of the options available in the file reference window to no avail.... once I redefine the link it works ok until the next time the client computer goes to sleep or FM is shut down.
