Inky Phil Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Hi everyone In kiosk mode my startup file opens 3 files after the initial screen. My problem is that while opening these files there are windows popping up every which where before they settle down into the required size and position. This is not a major problem but neither is it pretty. Does anyone know of a way of opening these files in a more professional looking way. I have spent a few hours trying different approaches none of which give me a satisfactory look If anyone out there has an answer for this I would appreciate the advice TIA Phil
Søren Dyhr Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 And getting all files into one is out of the question?? --sd
Inky Phil Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 How did I know you would come back with that one Soren? :/ It is not out of the question but this is an attempt to convert a substantial (11 files with 100's of scripts and layouts) 5.5 system so that it can be bolted onto a module that has been written in 8.5. The idea was to just do a realtively straight conversion to save time and to save reinventing the wheel. The old system works just fine as it is (although as always there is room for improvement) and this is the only snag I have come up against. So thank you for the suggestion but I was hoping not to do that unless I really have to - even though I know that I really ought to !! Phil
Søren Dyhr Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I could easily see the use of: http://www.newmillennium.com/index.php?src=directory&view=products&srctype=display&id=72&category=FMrobot&submenu=FMrobot_Purchase ...but would be too expensive a tool, to purchase for my fooling around. --sd
K1200 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 If you can fashion a way to run it "without wait" as a first step in your start sequence, a PC utility known as tinsplash can display a full-screen splash for a few seconds to mask the startup process. A simple Send Event works on the close side, but it might not execute soon enough in a startup script to cover file opens. http://www.desktopian.org/tinsplash.html
