Hi

I have a small database that only contains scripts to automate exporting of information from other FM Databases.

On File launch I have a Pause for 20sec before continuing the default script to initiate an unattended update of exported records. Every thing works brilliantly... except when my screen saver is active and the Database is launched... Filemaker is halted and the 20sec pause is not counded down.. so my scripts do not run. I move my mouse to wake the screen saver and Scripted Database will then continue.

I have also tested that when Printing a Layout as PDF during these scripts, that the screen saver being active will cause the machine to beep every 20 or so seconds and flash the screen save (ie Attention Flash) when I wake the Save as PDF continues.

This is running on a Mac G5 2.0GDP, MacOS X 10.4.7, No Hard Drive Sleep No Hybination etc, Filemaker Pro Client 6. Databases are hosted on a Filemaker Pro Server.

Also I use QuicKeys to activate the file launch of the Scripted Database at a specified time of the day/night which works fine.

MacOSX Screen Saver has Password Protection turned off on Wake during my testing - and one way to stop the Screen saver and allow the FMP Scripts to run is to use QuickKeys to move the mouse just before launching the Scripted Database... this works Brilliantly... But I need to have my Screen Saver Lock my desktop so this is not an option!

It seems that Filemaker 6 is not really a Background Happy Application.

Does the same things happen with Filemaker Pro Client 7, 8 or 8.5 when the Screen Saver Kicks in?

Thanks.

Why not try the Trial version?

Anyway, I'd just turn off the screen saver, maybe try it ust with dimming/turning off the display.

I have not tied the trial yet...

I need the Screen saver (with password) so that unauthorised people do not interrupt or delete things from the computer etc.
