Is it OK to run Server 8 Advanced and Server 5.5 on the same machine?

No. For one: they both use the same data port so things will conflict right there and then. You couldn't get them to start together. And even if it weren't for the port, both have the same bottlenecks so they would constantly fight for the same resources.
