Editing Portal Text on Gray Background

Hi All,

I'm using FMP 8 Adv to create a new database that uses portals and have found a bug I had not experienced before. When entering data in a portal field, with a transparent background, all editable portal fields turn gray. The user ends up entering and editing black text on a gray background. I have been unable to fix this, except by adding a background color to the field. I don't want background color, since it I have alternating color bars in the portal.

Is there any way to fix this bug?

I am running 8.0v3 on OS X 10.4.7. I have not tried it on the PC yet.

I welcome all suggestions.

Thanks,

- Miles

This behavior is not a bug. It may not behave the way you want but it the correct behavior. It's worked this way as long as I can remember... since relationships were introduced. I have not found a way around this behavior but I'm also not a big fan of alternating row colors for portals.

Try turning off "Show field frames when record is active" in Layout Setup.

THAT WAS IT!!!!!!

I call this a bug! When field frames are 'shown' you get a gray background, no matter what your highlight color is. When they are off you get the system highlight color.

Thank you so much, Michael!
