Is there a way to manipulate a file using a script? I would like to have the file loaded to the screen and have FM parse the lines and put them into fields, then make it so I can edit fields then edit or overwrite the file.

Like if I needed to change value 12 to 14 on line 12 is there a way to replace a line in a txt file??

It sounds like what you want to do can be done within FileMaker, although I would probable use a text editor, because it isn't as limiting as FileMaker when it comes to using Grep Pattern Finds and Replaces.

Why not attache a sample of your text file, and tell us what needs to go into what fields.
