stevie.at Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I'm looking for a way to generally turn off the visual spell checker for all the database files. When using the file-options it will be turned on again by default after you quit and open FileMaker again. No big help. I looked through the spelling script steps and could not find anything useful there either...like including a script that turns off the spell checker for all files when opening the database... Did I miss something??? Stefan
Fitch Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Are the files hosted? Try setting the pref in single-user mode.
stevie.at Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Yes, they are all hosted. As a single user it works, but not via the server... St.
Fitch Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 What I'm saying is that the spell-checker pref that you set when the file is single-user will "stick" when you put the file on FileMaker Server. So if your wish is to turn it off and keep it off, that's the way to do it. Once the file is hosted, however, all you can do is script the opening of the FileMaker Prefs or File Options dialog. You cannot programmatically control any FileMaker preferences or file options.
