how to setup a portal to create records?

Hi I think I being a bit thick but I am experimenting with relationships.

I have a products table and a quotes table which I want to be able to add products to my quotes layout I beleive the best way to do this would be to use a portal and add products into this?

In the relationship graph, double-click the "=" sign that connects the two table occurrences, and select the checkbox that says "allow creation of related records." Then you'll be able to click in the first empty line of your portal and enter a new record.
