Todd Dignan Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I have FileMaker 6 and UPS world ship v7 communicating via odbc. UPS World Ship pulls info out of FM6. However I can not get UPS World Ship v7 or v8 to work with FM 8 server or FM 8 locally. I was on the phone with FileMaker yesterday to make sure I configured the driver correctly. When I tested the driver set it worked just fine. When I go to setup UPS it will get as far as asking me for a User name and password and then fails. The error is that this a invalid import. I do not even get to mapping of the fields because of this error. Please help. Has anyone do this successfully? Thank you for your time. Todd Dignan
Todd Dignan Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 I found the answer. I will list the steps to the best of knowledge. First you need to use FM 8 Server Advance. Make sure odbc is checked and you are allowing odbc sharing. Take the file you want to access via odbc off the server and make sure is mark to be shared via odbc then put it back on the server. Next configure the data direct odbc driver with the odbc admin tool. You can download this driver from http://www.filemaker.com/developers/resources/odbc.html. Next in ups world ship creat an Import. Select the new instance of the data direct driver, put in a description of the import, the IP address of the FM server, the port is 2399, click on the button "...", select your file. Click on the test button. put in the username and password. Put in the username in the ID field and password in the password field and it should work. ran out of time. Got to go. Thanks
