Ronald_K Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Hi Can I load FM Pro 7 on my server. That way when I take a file down, I can work on ti (recover, condense etc) without having to download and re upload. thanks ron
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Yes you can do this. [color:red]However do not run both FileMaker Server and FIleMaker Pro at the same time. This is a particularly bad thing to do. And be sure to run the latest v-revs of both products. Steven
Ronald_K Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Thanks for the reply. Re "running at the same time", do you mean opening a file that is running or doe I need to close the whole FM service before even booting FM Pro? Ron
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Close all files hosted by FileMaker Server first thru the SAT Tool. The use the SAT Tool to stop the FileMaker Server service. Then you can open the file with FIleMaker Pro client. Steven
Ronald_K Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Thanks Steven But what would happen if I ran FM Pro on a file that was closed (ie not running on the server) but I didn't close FM Server iteself? Ron
Wim Decorte Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Nothing. Unless that file has references to hosted files. It's just a really bad habit to get into because mistakenly opening a file with FMP that was not closed from FMS will eventually corrupt it. It's all about avoiding risks...
