How can I write a script that when a user tabs or clicks in a field, it selects the entire content of that field?

You don't need a script. Set the field behavior for the field to "Select entire contents."

If you want to run a script for some other reason, when you click into a field, then in layout mode select the field, and under the Format menu, select "Button Setup." Select the perform script option.
