Jeff Bills Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Is it as simple as it sounds? Get a web server at your facility, install and set up FM Server Advanced, set the port to (80 or whatever), point people to your tcp/ip address and one can view and somewhat manipulate a FM document hosted by FM Server Adv.? I've obviously never done this but am wanting to learn
xochi Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Yes, and No. Some of the features of IWP are amazing, and they "just work." Some of the features are not implemented, and are not easy to work around. I'd suggest you read the IWP manual, especially the list of things which don't work under IWP: http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/documentation/fm8_instant_web_publishing.pdf
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 There's a bit more to it than that. And it's harder to do on OS X Server with Apache than it is on Windows Server 2003 with IIS. Still in all, you've got the concept. As a starter, enable for Instant Web Publishing the sample configuration file that comes with FileMaker Server. That way you can see what the general concept is. Also, if you are a developer, check out the Southern California FileMaker Develoepr organization at www.fmdisc.org HTH Steven
