js22 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Hi, I'm pretty new at filemaker and I am having troubles with scripting. On my 'Main Menu' layout I have 3 'menu buttons'. Each button is a general category of the 3 areas of the database. Each category has different layouts depending on what you want to do. What I want to do is when you click a 'Menu button' a set of 'layout buttons' will appear. The 'layout buttons' will re-direct you to a layout you select to add records. Example: 'menu buttons' = production, quality control, and inventory. 'layout buttons' for inventory: view inventory, edit inventory, add inventory ... 'layout buttons' for production: orders placed, stock on hand ... and when you click a 'layout button' it will take you to a layout where you can do your task. I'm having no luck finding out to hide/show the 'layout buttons' when the user clicks a 'menu button'. I know this is confusing but if anyone has some ideas I would be grateful for any help. thanks js22
DukeS Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 This solution you have to implement by yourself. Usually you have layout for navigation with layout buttons (inventory, production, ...), so when you click on one of them you change layout (clicking on inventory button redirects you to inventory layout). And on this layout you have to put another set of buttons ( view, edit, add, ... and button for menu layout). Also you can use tab control if you have FM 8 or later...
