mattdunn Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Hi, I have read through a bunch of articles on this site about hiding buttons in portals and I still don't quite get it. I want something very similar to what is present in a lot of the built in templates that come with Filemaker 8 (ie Lending Library). I need a button to delete records in a portal, I only want the button to be present if there are portal records. I have gone through some of the templates to see if I can discover how it is done and still no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt
aldipalo Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Welcome to the forum. In layout mode you place your button on the same line as your fields. It will then show on every line where there is data. (It will also show on the last line which is blank.) Once you place the button right click and choose "Button" then chose "Delete Portal Row." That should do it. HTH
Newbies g4Esy Posted December 27, 2006 Newbies Posted December 27, 2006 I did this, but when I delete a portal row, it also deletes the information on the table linked to this portal. They are both in relationship with the field invoice id, any ideas?
mr_vodka Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 If you delete a portal row, you are indeed deleting the actual record. The deletion of a portal row does not act as an 'Omit' of that related record from that portal.
