I have 2 tables and a join table - very simple. I have a portal in one table with a pop up menu assigned to one of the fields in the portal. I have tried for 2 days to get the pop up to pop up to no avail. I can't get anything in the portal. It was working three days ago but not now. I have re-built the database from scratch three times and stripped it down to absolute basics...nothing. what am I doing wrong?

actually, I can't even see the fields inside the portal - I have assigned colour and lines to them and they just dissappear when I switch to browse mode

theres more: (sorry not to get all this in one post) in one of my reworkings of the database the first line of the portal in the first record viewed in list mode works; it pops up and shows the list of names from the distant table. no other lines in the portals in any other record do anything and on swapping back to form mode the first pop up field in the first (only) record also works

Hi tachyon:

Kinda hard to tell. Could you post one of those rebuild files as an attachment?... We'd be happy to take a look.

Yes, your example file would help. Also, I have posted a download link to an example invoicing solution which shows a standard many-to-many relationship with a popup menu in the portal. Maybe this will help you discover the answer.

thanks for the offer, problem solved... nothing like a good night's sleep, sat down and solved it in 10 minutes (a simple mistake; I changed the relationship and the "allow creation of records" button went back to default off)
